Book Review: The Atlas Paradox by Olivie Blake

Book Review: The Atlas Paradox by Olivie Blake

The Atlas Paradox was a much-anticipated sequel to The Atlas Six, the popular dark academia novel. After the success of the first book, expectations were high for its follow-up. Unfortunately, The Atlas Paradox did not meet those expectations. The plot seemed to be made up as the author went along, with little to no character development. It felt like a filler until the third installment in the series could wrap up questions from the first novel.

The Atlas Paradox picks up where The Atlas Six left off, with the six initiates of the Alexandrian Society still reeling from the events of the first book. They have been tasked with completing a series of dangerous challenges in order to prove themselves worthy of membership in the Society. Still, they are not the only ones who are after the Society's secrets. A mysterious group of rivals is also determined to get their hands on the Society's power, and they will stop at nothing to achieve their goal.

The problem with The Atlas Paradox is that it feels like a series of unconnected events. There is no clear overarching plot, and the characters are given endless opportunities and time to develop, but with no real results. They are simply reacting to whatever is happening around them, actions which in and of themselves seem to be futile. This makes it difficult to care about what happens to them.

The writing in The Atlas Paradox is also a letdown. The prose is wordy and tedious, and the dialogue is often stilted and unnatural. This makes it difficult to get immersed in the story.

The Atlas Paradox was a disappointing read. The plot was confusing and lacked substance, and the characters felt one-dimensional and hard to root for. While the premise of the book had potential, the execution fell flat. Overall, I would not recommend this book.
